Wilson Dominates in Season Two Opener!

The 2018 Wilson Bruins faced off against the Westchester Comets on Wednesday in what would be the program's first ever SHUTOUT!  Led by Coach Sterling and Coach Sean, the team "brought it" against Coach Sean's alma mater with a final score of 19-0! The win was a team effort with goals being scored by 12 of the 20 team members! Face off master, Jacob Soriano, had 3 along with impossible to catch midfielder, Jack Cummings. Rounding up with 2 goals a piece were: Seniors Malachi Valenzuela-Mier and Kyle LaBorne, Sophomore Noah McLaughlin and Freshman Kyle Paz. Ari Naiman, Charley Littleworth, Alex Johnson, Tony Peredia and AJ Paclibare each had one. The Bruins travel to Westchester next week to challenge a rematch on the Comets home turf.

The Wilson Bruins stayed unbeaten in their inaugural season with a 14-5 win over LA Jordan at home. Malachi Valenzuela-Mier had a team-high four goals, while Kyle LaBorne added three.

Charley Littleworth and Ari Naiman both scored twice, while Sam Peak, Jack Cummings, and Anthony Peredia each scored once.

Coach Sterling is from Boston, Massachusetts where he started playing Lacrosse with the Metro Lacrosse inner city youth program at the age of 11. He went on to play for the Metro varsity team for four years, and was named Captain as a Sophomore. He played college lacrosse at Greensboro College, a Division 3 school in North Carolina. He's also coached several of Metro's day and overnight camps. Sterling is an integral member of the coaching staff for Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse. Assistant Coach Sean Perry

Coach Sean joined the Wilson Program for Season Two as Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach. He brings an spirited energy and love of the game, in addition to an amazing expertise for the defensive end of the field!  The level of defensive play for the Bruins certainly intensified this season under the direction of Coach Sean. A little background: Sean has been playing lacrosse for seven years as a long stick middie and close defense player; since his Junior year at Westchester High School. He attended UC Irvine and played for Coach Tim Fox all four of his years there. He has coached many Beach Cities Summer Lacrosse Camps. Sean is headed for Graduate School in Secondary Education and hopes to teach History at the high school level in the not too distant future. He also enjoys volunteering at the YMCA. Welcome Coach Sean to the Bruin Family!
