Wilson Marching Band Summer 2019 schedule and Information

                Another exciting season for the Wilson Marching Band is right around the corner!  Our goal is to create the best sounding, most exciting Marching Band possible!  The purpose of this letter is to inform you of our mandatory band camp, as well as other important information. Our fall performance schedule will be made available during band camp.

 

Band Members must attend band camp to be assured of a spot in this year’s field show!  All summer activities begin in Room 501 (The Band Room, on the Park Avenue side of school).

 

Band camp counts for PE Credit this summer. Please sign up for Marching Band/PE in Summer School: www.lbschools.net/summer

 

Don’t miss our Band pre-camp:  June 18 and 19, 9 AM to 12 PM. We will distribute instruments and music to get started! (wind instruments only, no Color Guard or percussion).

 

Percussion Camp:  July 29 – August 2 and August 5 – 9,  10 AM to 2 PM. Skills development, auditions and placement into Drum Line and Front Ensemble for the Fall.

 

Color Guard Summer Camps: June 25-28, July 29 to August 2, 9AM to 1PM.

 

Full Band and Color Guard Camp:  August 12 – 16 and 19 – 23, 9 AM to 3:30 PM.

Marching Band Donation Request

Marching Band is similar to a sport. Like most sports, many costs involved with this activity are not covered by the LBUSD, or Wilson High School.

 

We are requesting a $275 donation from each Band and Color Guard Member. This donation will be used for staffing of Summer Camp and our field season, supplies, and transportation.

 

 

Due to the generosity of our boosters, and support from the LBUSD, this amount is very low compared to most competitive Marching Band programs. This contribution is tax deductible.

Clothing items you will need are:

 

Spirit Shirts for away games: $15.

Marching Shoes: $30.

 

Color Guard uniforms will be under $100. These uniforms will be yours to keep.

 

Orders for the above clothing items will begin August 12 for Band, earlier for Color Guard.  Please plan on getting your order in BY AUGUST 16. This is a separate payment from the donation.

 

We ask that drummers supply their own sticks and mallets (Mr. Juarez can tell you what you need).  Flipbooks and lyres will be supplied by the band director from our donations.

           

            Band members, if you do not own your own instrument, you may check out one of the school instruments.

  • Serve as a parent representing Marching Band in our Booster Organization – WIMBO.
  • Help out with uniforms and equipment for the Marching Band season.
