Wilson High School Scholarship

Application Requirements

Fall 218 – Due Friday, November 9th, 2018

(No later than 3:00 pm)


In order to be eligible for over 80 Wilson and community scholarships, seniors must submit an application consisting of the following:



  • To be considered for financial need-based scholarships please fill out the Financial Information Form  (Please note; all students must complete this form, there is an option to exclude yourself on the application)


  • Autobiographical Statement: One-page typed autobiography including any unique or unusual experiences or circumstances in your background that you want the scholarship committee to be aware of as they consider you for scholarships.  See Below


  • Two (2) copies of your high school transcript provided to you by your English teacher.


  • Submit two (2) copies of your resume packet (resume and transcript) to the box in the Student Support Center by Friday, November 9th no later than 3:00 pm. Make and keep a copy for your own personal records as well!

Don’t forget to check the weekly Wilson Scholarship Bulletin located on the Career Center webpage under Important Links and Downloads for other scholarship opportunities. Also, ask employers, churches/synagogues and other community agencies for potential scholarships.


Autobiographical Statement ~ Academic Resume

Fall 2018

Due – Friday, November 9, 2018

(No later than 3:00 pm)


Directions: write a 350 word or less response to the following prompt to be included with your Wilson High School Academic Resume


Prompt: Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an obstacle or barrier.


Things to consider:

An educational opportunity can be anything that has added value to your educational experience and better prepared you for college. For example, participation in an honors or academic enrichment program, have volunteered for a community organization (non-profit), extra-curricular that interest you or has impacted your life.

If you choose to write about an obstacle or barrier you’ve faced, how did you overcome or strive to overcome them? What personal characteristics or skills did you call on to overcome this challenge? How did overcoming this obstacle or barrier help shape who are you today?



  • Write persuasively
  • Use “I” statements
  • Stay on topic about you
  • Proofread and edit
  • Solicit feedback
  • Reread
  • Relax!!!!!!


  • Use inappropriate humor/inside jokes
  • Creative writing (poems, clichés)
  • Quotations
  • Generalities
  • Repetition
  • Acronyms
  • Ask philosophical questions
