Summer School

We are pleased to announce that Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) will be offering Summer School for credit recovery and enrichment courses to our Wilson students this year.

 

High School summer school is open to any Long Beach Unified School District student who needs to make up credit(s) required for graduation, or fulfill A-G college entrance requirements.  Credit recovery courses will be offered through a traditional setting or independent study (EPHS model and APEX).  This year, we are also excited to announce that we will offer a variety of amazing and fun enrichment courses such as self-care workshops, SAT Prep, Google Suite workshops and much more (see below for details).

 

Attendance:

Credit Recovery and Original Credit:

  • A minimum of 85% attendance is required for credit. Summer School will be in session beginning Monday, June 24th through Friday, July 26th, 2019.

Enrichment:

  • A minimum of 85% attendance is required to continue to stay in the course/workshop.  Summer School enrichment courses have varying dates and time please see attached document for details.

Credit Recovery or Original Credit Courses

Summer school applications will be available only online, beginning Monday, April 15th through Friday, May 3rd by 5:00 p.m.   Space is limited, so register early.   Please follow the steps below to submit your Summer School Application:

 

Steps to Enroll:

  1. Complete the online application at www.lbschools.net/summer   between April 15th and May 3rd

            You will need the following items:

  1. Student ID (User Name: Student ID#, Password: Date of Birth (6 Digits))
  2. Student Email Address and Parent Email Address
  3. In StudentVUE, click on Summer School Request (located on the bottom of the toolbar)
  4. Click on “Students Click to Request Summer School” (located just under the student’s name)
  5. Click on “I plan to attend Summer School”
  6. Students will receive an on-screen notification, with a date/time stamp, indicating that they have been registered for Summer School.
  7. Students who would like to discuss the courses that they will take during the summer should meet with their Counselor by May 17, 2019.  Otherwise, your Counselor will select the courses that you need to meet graduation or “a-g” requirements. A student or parent can view the courses requests, once the Counselor enters them, in StudentVue or ParentVue.
  8. The deadline to submit the online summer school application is Friday, May 3, 2019 at 5pm.

 

 

2019 Summer School Dates and Hours:

 

Monday, June 24, 2019 – Friday, July 26, 2019 (5 weeks)

Period 1:  7:50 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. and Period 2: 10:35 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

 

Wilson’s Summer School Course Offerings are as follows:

Credit Recovery:

  • Math: Algebra 1, Geometry (APEX), Algebra 2 (APEX)
  • English: English 1-2(EPHS), English 3-4(EPHS), English 5-6(EPHS)
  • History/Social Science: Modern World History (APEX), United States History(APEX)
  • Science: Biology, Chemistry 1-2
  • World Language: Spanish 1-2

 

Pathway Courses:

  • Principles of Biomedical Science (PWLTW)
  • Computer Science Essentials

 

Original Credit Courses (2 Block Class):

  • Marching Band (5 credits)
  • Spanish 1-2 (10 credits)
  • Advanced Kinesiology PE 10 (10 credits)

 

HEALTH REQUIREMENT: The “No Shot-No School” policy is in effect during the summer session.

 

DRESS CODE REQUIREMENT: The LBUSD dress code is enforced during summer school. Uniforms are required at Millikan and Wilson High Schools.

 

FREE OR REDUCED LUNCHES: Lunches will be available to qualified students.

Please Note: students may register for multiple enrichment courses as long as there is no scheduling conflict.
